WJTV Engages in Racist Propaganda for Headlines

As a part of their coverage of the shooting at Virginia Tech, WJTV ran a 10:00 p.m. story that included and paralleled the 1970 JSU shooting to the Virginia Tech shooting.  This faulty comparison by WJTV is both amateurish and racist as it is a complete farce because the 1970 JSU shooting involved students being attacked by the Jackson Police Department, the Mississippi National Guard, and the State Highway Patrol.  For WJTV to compare the 1970 JSU shooting to what happened at Virginia Tech is like saying that what happened at Kent State is the same as what happened at Columbine.

If you have followed the coverage of the Virginia Tech shooting, you will realize that journalist all over the country are frustrated by the fact that law enforcement officials are refusing the provide details of their investigation.  So, stations like CNN, FOX, and others are trying to piece together bits and pieces to create a story because that is what sells advertising.  And this is the case for WJTV.  They have taken a completely unrelated story, a story that is about the racist history of Mississippi, a story that is about Governor John Bell Williams’ desire to terminate the black student movement in Mississippi, and they have linked this story to a story that seems to be a random act of violence, if not a personal dispute, which has, unfortunately, engulfed the innocent lives of the Virginia Tech family.  However, the 1970 JSU shooting was not random.  It was a calculated, institutional, and State-sanctioned act by Governor Williams and the racist cops, troopers, and guardsmen in an attempt to maintain African American second-class citizenship.

It is clear that WJTV does not respect the history of African Americans.  But more specifically, WJTV, as with the other white controlled media, feels that it can perpetuate any lie it wants about African Americans and fear no reciprocity or consequence because African Americans do not know their own history.  Also, African Americans seem to want so badly to ingratiate themselves to the white power structure that we will overlook and accept anything as a way to appease the fears and anxieties of whites.  And that is to say nothing of the Negro lackeys who work for WJTV or the ones we continue to elect to office who continue to acquiesce so as to be able to line their pockets with Judas’ coins.  But, such is the life of integration.  Anyway, why am I complaining?  I’m sure that next week, WJTV will follow this story with an excellent documentary about how slavery was really a summer camp retreat for underprivileged Africans.
