Here
are the politicians whose names I have been able to dig up so far off various
CofCC materials (their newsletter, their websites and an occasional article in
a Mississippi newspaper) as having been to and/or spoken at a CofCC function.
I know the list is very incomplete, but I hope some of you will help me out on
it. I have tried not to put names down twice, but, when it happens, it's inadvertent,
I've just forgotten that it was already there when I see it again. Some of these
names turned up so often, I was tempted to bold them (smile).
This
list is much longer than I anticipated when I began it. Indeed, I begin to wonder
if it might not be shorter to list those politicians who have NOT attended or
spoken at a CofCC function. At this point, I am so disgusted with the politicians
of this state that I would be willing to vote for any of them who will repudiate
the CofCC. I may dream, but I dream that one day politicians in Mississippi will
stand forth, tall and proud, and proclaim, "This racism is repugnant to me,
these people who espouse it are not my people, and I will never again support
them with my presence." The politician who will make this claim, I'll move
to a "redeemed" list, and will support for public office.
- Please note that most
of these names were taken from CofCC newsletter archives and some of these may
not still hold the same offices that they held at the time they attended and/or
spoke at these meetings. I have not attempted to verify that they are still holding
the same offices. Updated 6/5/07
